Software Team Leader

The Engagement team owns OneLink, AppsFlyer's deep linking and attribution link platform. Every OneLink click is a real user waiting: someone taps a link in an ad, a social post, an email, or a QR code, and within milliseconds we have to resolve the link, record the engagement, and send them to the right place. That means the app store, the app itself, or a specific in-app screen, on the right platform, in the right context.
The team sits at the very front of AppsFlyer's ingestion path and handles millions of requests per second globally. Our services cover the full journey: OneLink and shortlink resolution, redirection at the edge, deferred deep linking for users who install first and deep link after, social crawler link previews, and delivery of clean engagement data onto Kafka for downstream attribution.

We're looking for a hands-on Software Team Leader to lead the Engagement team, owning the architecture, delivery, and production health of the OneLink serving path.
Our stack is deliberately polyglot: Clojure, Go, Java, and Node, with the persistence layer chosen per problem across Kafka, Redis/ElastiCache, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and MongoDB. Everything runs on AWS (Kubernetes, multi-region), behind CDNs at the edge

What You’ll Do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of senior backend engineers, covering hiring, career growth, and honest feedback, while staying personally hands-on in architecture, design reviews, and code.
• Own the end-to-end design of the OneLink serving path.
• Own the edge layer together with Infra, including CDN strategy across branded and non-branded domain and edge compute.
• Own production, including SLOs, capacity, and cost efficiency at scale, and take part in the on-call rotation.
• Partner with Product, Data, and Infra to turn ambiguous requirements into a sequenced technical plan.

What You Have

• Engineering experience: 5+ years of software development experience, with strong backend engineering skills.
• Leadership: 2+ years directly managing a team of software engineers, including hiring, performance, and growth conversations.
• High scale in production: Proven track record designing, building, and operating high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems.
• Cloud: Strong proficiency with AWS (or GCP/Azure) and modern deployment practice, including containers, Kubernetes, IaC, and CI/CD.
• Polyglot backend: Hands-on depth in at least one of Go, Clojure, Node, or Java, and genuine willingness to work across all of them.
• Multi-DB: Comfort with both relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL/caching (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis/ElastiCache), with real opinions on when each is wrong.
• Streaming: Working knowledge of Kafka or equivalent, including partitioning, consumer groups, ordering, backpressure, and what happens when a consumer falls behind.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

Bonus Points

• Deep linking, mobile attribution, or URL routing experience (Universal Links, App Links, deferred deep linking).
• CDN and edge-compute work: CloudFront Functions, CloudFlare Workers, WAF rule design.
• Functional programming experience (Clojure, Scala, Erlang/Elixir).
• AdTech background.
• Track record on cost-efficiency at scale.
